This is good news for Americans and NRIs in the US. The old company, BLS, has [deservedly, in my opinion] had so many complaints that the Indian government was forced to fire them. Cox & Kings Global Services Ltd, will begin offering its services from May 21 at all Indian diplomatic posts in the US, according to a statement by the Indian Embassy in Washington. This includes the embassy in DC and consulates in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and San Francisco.
BLS will close its operations with regard to visa, overseas citizens of India (OCI), people of Indian origin (PIO) and renunciation of Indian Citizenship Certificate support services on May 20. More details here.
If you can wait to apply for your visa, it would probably be good to submit it after the end of the month. The transition could be a little rocky, but in all probability, Cox and King will do a much better job. At the very least, wait until the 21st, if you can.
